Hereâs a step-by-step guide for setting up email forwarding for Gmail & Microsoft Outlook to forward receipts to a Pemo inbox for automatic expense matching.
Pemo Power Tip: Your Pemo Receipts Inbox can only automatically match receipts that are sent as email attachments.
Sign in to Gmail: Log in to the Gmail account you want to forward emails from.
Open Settings: Click the gear icon in the top-right corner, then select "See all settings".
Go to Forwarding and POP/IMAP: Navigate to the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.
Add a Forwarding Address:
Click "Add a forwarding address".
Enter your Pemo reciept inbox address (see how to find it here) and click "Next".
Confirm by clicking "Proceed". Gmail will send a verification email to the Pemo inbox.
Verify the Address:
Check the Pemo inbox for a verification code.
Enter the code in Gmailâs confirmation field.
Set Email Forwarding Filters:
Click the words "creating a filter" that are highlighted in blue.
Enter the details of the recurring email you want to forward to your receipts inbox. For example, if you want to forward recurring emails from a specific software subscription, copy and paste the email address you receive the invoices from. If the subject line contains specific keywords that always appear, you can add them as well. Donât forget to tick the "Has attachment" box if the receipt is always included as an attachment.
On the next screen tick the "forward it to" and select the Pemo recipt inbox address that you added as a forwarding address earlier.
Click create filter. After this step you'll have to complete a verification process with Gmail.
Check the Pemo inbox for a verification code.
Enter the code in Gmailâs confirmation field.
Save & Test Forwarding: Send a test email to ensure forwarding is working as expected.
