An AP Clerk handles your bills from upload to payment request: they add bills and vendors, send bills for approval, and choose how each approved bill is paid. They can't release money. Only your Payment Order Authorizer (POA) can do that. You give AP Clerk access through a role.
Before you start
Who: a Super Admin or an Admin.
Where: web only.
Set up first: an approved Business Bank Account. Bill Pay switches on once your Business Bank Account is approved.
Open Roles & permissions
There are two ways in, the most common first:
In the left sidebar, select Members & Teams, then Roles & permissions in the top right.
Or select Accounts → Settings → Permissions → Manage roles. This opens Members & Teams, where you select Roles & permissions in the top right.
Turn on AP Clerk access
In Roles & permissions, open a custom role based on Admin or an Accountant role. To create a custom role, select Create a role and pick the role to start from. See Understanding user roles in Pemo.
In the Business Bank Account section, turn on AP Clerk.
Select Save, then give the role to the team member.
Who can hold AP Clerk
Internal accountant roles have AP Clerk access by default. You can also add it to a role based on Admin or an Accountant role. Team Lead and Team Member roles can't hold it. Turning on Payroll in a role also turns on AP Clerk.
What happens next
The team member is emailed that they have AP Clerk access, and sees More → Bills. The settings page lists every role with AP Clerk under Roles with AP Clerk permission.
Your POA is set when your Business Bank Account is opened and is shown on the same settings page. To change the POA, contact Pemo support.
