Connecting Pemo to Odoo lets you send expenses, reimbursements, wallet movements, and invoices straight into Odoo as journal entries.
Before you start
You must be an Admin or Accountant in Pemo. In Odoo, the connection uses an API key created by a user with administrator rights in Accounting: the key has exactly that user's rights, and Pemo reads your chart of accounts, taxes, contacts and bank accounts and creates journal entries. This is a web task, done in both Odoo and Pemo.
We also recommend having your Odoo partner present during setup to confirm the correct accounting configuration.
Confirm the correct Odoo database or company if you manage multiple environments.
You will also need a Pemo payment account in Odoo, or a clear idea of which account will represent the Pemo wallet. Identify the VAT input account you want Odoo to use for VAT lines.
Pemo exports everything into Odoo as journal entries, so your structure in Odoo should be ready. You will be mapping:
Chart of Accounts: Expense accounts, such as Travel, SaaS and Marketing.
Wallet or bank account: The account for the Pemo wallet.
VAT input account: The account used for VAT lines.
Vendors or contacts: Make sure common suppliers, such as Google, Slack and airlines, exist in Odoo.
VAT rates: Confirm VAT codes and how VAT input is handled in Odoo.
Create a dedicated "Pemo Wallet" account in Odoo under your bank or cash accounts. This makes it easier to match journal entries from Pemo to your actual wallet balance.
Generate an API key in Odoo
Pemo connects to Odoo using an API key.
Open your Odoo Dashboard.
Select your profile in the top-right corner.
Select Preferences.
Open Account Security.
Select New API Key.
Enter a name for the key.
Copy the generated API key.
Set the API key expiry to Persistent to avoid reconnecting later.
Collect your Odoo details
Collect the following details before connecting Odoo. You can find them in Odoo, but you can't complete the connection in Pemo without them.
Required field | Example or where to find it |
Domain Name | yourcompany.odoo.com |
Database Name | Profile icon → My Databases |
Email Address | The email the person who created the API key logs in to Odoo with |
API Key | The API key created above |
Connect Odoo in Pemo
Log in to Pemo.
Go to Accounting export.
Select Connect accounting system.
In the Pick your accounting system dropdown, select Odoo.
Select Get started.
Enter your Domain Name, Database Name, Email Address, and API Key.
Select Connect.
Select your Pemo Wallet account
Choose the Odoo account that should represent your Pemo Wallet. This account is used when exporting journal entries from Pemo into Odoo.
You can select an existing bank or cash account, or create a dedicated Pemo Wallet account in Odoo. You can update this later from your accounting settings.
Turn on Copilot to automatically categorize expenses and reduce manual coding work.
What syncs from Odoo to Pemo?
Once connected, Pemo automatically syncs:
Chart of Accounts
VAT / Tax settings
Suppliers and Contacts
This helps your team code expenses correctly and keeps exports aligned with your books.
Once the connection is in place, you can categorize expenses using your Odoo accounts and VAT settings, export expenses, reimbursements, wallet movements and invoices, and review entries in Odoo before posting them.
Troubleshooting
Contact Pemo Support to enable the Odoo integration for your account.
Connection failed
If the connection fails, you can correct your details and try again, but Pemo can't connect until the Domain Name, Database Name, Email Address, and API Key are correct. Also make sure the API key was created by a user with administrator rights in Accounting. If you use Odoo Online, your database must be on Odoo's Custom plan: Odoo doesn't offer API access on its One App Free or Standard plans.
API key not working
You can generate a replacement API key and reconnect if necessary, but you can't use a key that has been deleted in Odoo. Make sure the API key expiry is set to Persistent.
Can't find exported entries in Odoo
Pemo exports entries as Draft by default. You can still find them by opening Accounting → Journal Entries and removing any Posted only filters, but they won't appear while those filters are applied.
Journal entry appears as unbalanced
You can review and correct the entry, but it won't balance until the expense accounts are mapped correctly, VAT is linked to a valid VAT account, and the debit and credit totals match.
Wrong Odoo company connected
Disconnect Odoo in Pemo, then reconnect using the correct company details. Pemo supports one Odoo company connection at a time.
Next, learn how to export a transaction to Odoo and see how entries land as journal entries with VAT and receipts attached.
