How to link Pemo to Zoho Books

Connecting Pemo to Zoho Books lets you sync expenses, vendors, VAT rates, and your chart of accounts from one place.

Before you start

In Pemo, you need to be an Admin or Accountant. In Zoho Books, you must be an Admin: Pemo needs full access to your Zoho Books organization, because it creates a payment account and vendors there, and an Accountant or Staff user cannot grant it. You can connect from the Pemo web app.

Have these ready:

  • Your Zoho Books login credentials, with 2FA if enabled.

  • The correct organization if you manage multiple entities.

  • A designated Bank or Wallet Account in Zoho Books, or create one during setup.

Decide how you will map:

  • Chart of Accounts (expense categories)

  • Vendors / Contacts

  • Tax rates (VAT)

  • Projects or cost centers

You need a payment account for your Pemo wallet. If you do not already have one, you can create it directly in Pemo during setup.

Connect Pemo to Zoho Books

  1. Log in to Pemo.

  2. Go to Accounting export → Connect accounting system.

  3. In the Pick your accounting system dropdown, select Zoho Books, then click Get started.

  4. Enter your credentials on the Zoho Books authorization page. If the page doesn’t appear, visit zoho.com/books to confirm you’re logged in to the correct account.

  5. Click Accept to give Pemo permission to access your accounting data.

  6. Choose the company, or Zoho organization, you want to connect.

  7. Select the Payment Account that represents your Pemo Wallet in Zoho Books. You can select an existing wallet or bank account, or create one directly in Pemo during setup.

Note: To select a different organization, log out of Zoho Books and restart the connection.

You can update or change your payment account at any time from Accounting export → Settings.

After setup, Pemo imports your Chart of Accounts, vendors or contacts, VAT rates, and projects or cost centers from Zoho Books. This keeps your expense categories and accounting structure in Pemo aligned with your Zoho Books configuration.

Once the connection is live, activate Pemo Copilot to automatically categorize expenses by Chart of Account, Vendor, and VAT.

Review and organize your expenses

Before exporting, review and complete the accounting fields on your expenses, as described in Reviewing expenses before export.

Export expenses

Once your expenses are marked Ready for Export, send them to Zoho Books. See Exporting expenses from Pemo to Zoho Books.

Integration permissions

The Zoho Books consent page shows the permissions Pemo needs to connect the two platforms. These permissions allow Pemo to retrieve customers and vendors, retrieve or create payment accounts, export card expenses, export out-of-pocket expenses and invoices, and retrieve VAT rates, accounting settings, projects, and cost centers.

Pemo does not send expense data to Zoho Books automatically. You mark expenses as ready, then click Export, and only the expenses in that export are sent.
