Pre-funded card overview

A Pre-Funded Card gives your team controlled access to company funds without a balance that resets monthly.

Unlike a Corporate Card, which has a limit that resets on a chosen cycle, a Pre-Funded Card uses a fixed balance that you load onto it. When you issue or edit a corporate card you can choose a Daily, Weekly, Monthly (the default) or Yearly limit, while a pre-funded card has no cycle at all - its limit is simply the amount you fund it with. Single-use cards have no cycle either.

There’s no time limit. Funds stay available until they’re used or removed. You can add or remove funds at any time.

How it works

A Pre-Funded Card is issued with AED 0 loaded. You control how much the cardholder can spend by adding funds to the card: go to the Cards tab, select the card, choose Add Funds, enter the amount and confirm. The transfer is instant when your main wallet has the funds, and you can remove funds the same way at any time.

Here’s what’s important to know:

  • The card balance is separate from your company wallet balance.

  • Each transaction is debited from the balance loaded onto that pre-funded card. You top up your company wallet first, then add funds from the wallet to the individual card - pre-funded cards start with AED 0 loaded, so a card can only spend what you have added to it.

  • The cardholder can spend as long as there's enough balance in your wallet and the transaction stays within the card's limits. The per-card transaction limit is AED 50,000 by default, adjustable up to AED 1,000,000, and never above the card's own cycle limit. The scheme limit is AED 250,000 per transaction; anything above it needs pre-approval from support with one business day's notice.

This lets you set aside funds for vendor payments, project costs or purchase orders without issuing reimbursements or temporary cards.

Example in action

Imagine your operations team needs to settle several purchase orders for suppliers.

Instead of using multiple Corporate Cards or waiting for reimbursement approvals, you can issue a Pre-Funded Card and add funds to it for the exact amount needed to cover those purchase orders. Go to the Cards tab, select the card, choose Add Funds, enter the amount and confirm - the top-up is instant if the funds are in your main wallet. Card spend isn't pre-approved; approval policies review spend after payment based on triggers such as spend bracket or category.

Once spending is complete, you can keep the card active, remove unused funds or add more funds when needed.

Why teams love it

  • Simple control: add or remove funds and adjust card limits at any time. Card spend isn't pre-approved - approval policies ask your chosen approver to review a transaction after payment, based on triggers such as spend bracket or category.

  • No reset cycles: Funds stay until they’re used or removed.

  • Instant action: Top-ups are instant when funds are in your main wallet.

  • Clear visibility: Track all transactions in your Pemo dashboard.

Pre-Funded Cards give teams spending freedom without losing control. You set the limits and load the funds available on each card, and every transaction stays visible, accountable, and under your control. Card spend isn't pre-approved - approval policies ask your chosen approver to review a transaction after payment, based on triggers such as spend bracket or category.
