Understanding "Advanced controls"

Updated this week

Advanced Control allows you to go beyond standard spend limits and tailor card usage to your company’s specific needs.

You can now:

  • Set spend rules by location – control where cards can be used (for example, allow spend only in the UAE).

  • Restrict by merchant categories – block transactions from specific types of businesses (for example, entertainment or gaming).

These controls help you maintain tighter compliance, prevent misuse, and manage budgets more effectively — all while keeping your teams empowered to spend responsibly.

How it works

Pemo Power Tip: You can also set Advanced Control rules while issuing or requesting a new card — making it easy to apply spending limits from the start.

  1. Open the Card Settings: Go to the card you’d like to manage.

  2. Select Advanced Control: Choose from available options like Location or Merchant Category.

  3. Set Your Rules:

    • Pick the countries where the card can be used.

    • Choose which merchant categories to allow or restrict.

  4. Save Changes: Your new controls take effect instantly.

Why use Advanced controls?

  • Prevent out-of-policy spend: Block unwanted purchases before they happen.

  • Enhance visibility: Get clear insights into where and how money is spent.

  • Boost compliance: Ensure spending stays aligned with company policies.

  • Save time: Reduce manual reviews and reimbursements.

Good to know

  • Advanced Control applies to both physical and virtual Pemo cards.

  • Admins can adjust or remove controls anytime.

  • Spend rules update in real time — no waiting or syncing required.
