Payment Fraud – Do’s & Don’ts

Updated over 2 months ago

Managing payments comes with responsibilities — and that includes keeping your business safe from fraud. At Pemo, we’re here to make that easier.

Here’s a quick guide to help you spot unusual activity, take smart action, and stay in control of every payment.

✅ Do’s – Smart Habits to Stay Protected

  • Verify any change in bank details

Always call a trusted contact before updating supplier/vendor banking information.

  • Pay attention to system alerts

If Pemo or another platform flags a payment, don’t ignore it — it’s trying to protect you.

  • Stick to approved channels

Use your company’s official communication tools for finance-related discussions. No exceptions.

  • Slow down if something feels urgent

Scammers often push for fast action. Pause and assess the situation.

  • Check email senders closely

Look out for misspellings, added numbers, or strange domains (e.g. .com instead of .co.ae).

  • Bookmark important links

Access Pemo through your saved link — never from random emails or messages.

  • Trust your instincts

If something feels off or out of context, take a moment. Ask: does this really make sense?

❌ Don’ts – Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Don’t share passwords or secure codes

Ever. Not even with someone claiming to be from the bank or Pemo.

  • Don’t click unknown links or downloads

If you weren’t expecting it, it’s probably a scam.

  • Don’t reply to suspicious emails

Even if it “looks” like it’s from someone you know — call them to confirm first.

  • Don’t be pressured into quick decisions

Fraudsters love urgency. Take your time to verify details.

  • Don’t trust automatically — question everything

Be cautious of new or unexpected requests, even from internal contacts.

  • Don’t overshare online

Avoid posting personal details like birthdays, pet names, or travel plans on social media.

  • Don’t ignore red flags

If you sense something is off, report it immediately to your manager or IT/security team.
